About
Welcome to the Bick Pens.
It’s a pleasure have you here. You can call me Mr. B or The Bick. I am currently pursuing my BS in Information Technology
through the Forbes School of Business. As an IT Infrastructure analyst for a large
power company, It is my intent to use my education and degree to continue to manage
the technology for my company and grow into more managerial roles for the
remainder of my career or use it on my resume in case a career change is in my
future. I hope this is not the case as I
enjoy the challenges and growth opportunities my present position has to offer.
Previously I have spent the past thirty some odd years
working in IT through various job functions and industries. Though I have done application work,
training, database development, programming, web design, server administration
networking and security I currently find myself in a position that uses all
these skills daily. The word
“Infrastructure” in my title is vague enough to cover, if it plugs in I either
design, deploy, maintain, or repair it.
If it falls without
Outside of the work environment I am a husband and father to
two wonderful children who are currently making me nervous as they drive off in
a new car. My hobbies include weightlifting,
camping, boating, music, and I have just completed my first year of mentoring
our local FRC robotics team. As the new
competition season approaches, many of my assignments for this class will be typed
on a laptop in a factory, watching as High Schoolers build competition robots,
learning and teaching along the way. Here

The purpose of this blog currently is to explore programming
languages so that I can bring this knowledge with me into my job and to the
robotics team to teach the kids programming skills that are applicable to their
goals.
Cheers,
Mr. B.
